Mark
Nash to attend inquest into Roscommon
murders

- Mark
Nash, the man being held for a double
murder in Roscommon is set to attend
the inquest into the deaths of two
psychiatric patients in a house in
Grangegorman. Mary Callinan and
Sylvia Shields, aged 61 and 57
respectively, were found dead in a
house in Grangegorman in March of
1997. When Nash was arrested for the
murder of a young couple in their
Ballintobber home in County Roscommon
he confessed to the murders of Mary
Callinan and Sylvia Shields. Later he
retracted the statement and the case
remains open. The coroner has now
said that Nash is to attend the
inquest of Ms. Callinan and Ms.
Shields which starts next Wednesday.

2002-09-20 Suspended sentence for sexual
assault A 49 year old native of West
Donegal received a two-month suspended
sentence and was ordered to pay 2,500
euro compensation at Tuesday’s
sitting of Dungloe District Court when he
pleaded guilty to a charge of sexually
assaulting a seven year old female. The
incident took place on a date unknown
between August 1 and September 30 1997.Mr
Sean Boner, solicitor, told the hearing
that his client’s connections with
his native area had now been severed and
a house he had there sold. He produced a
copy of the sale to verify this.Judge
John O’Donnell said he was most
impressed by the accused’s wife in
what must have been a very difficult
situation for her. Her support was very
beneficial for the accused, he said.He
imposed the two-month sentence and
suspended it for a year and ordered a
certificate be issued to place the
defendant on the sex offenders register.
He also confirmed his ban on the
publication of the defendant’s
name.Mr Frank Dorrian, solicitor, who was
holding a watching brief for the injured
party questioned the publication ban
saying his client had no difficulty with
the defendant being named. He added it
was common knowledge in any event who the
perpetrator was in the locality and any
protection of the victim had been lost.
He argued the Judge’s decision only
served now to protect the defendant and
queried whether the Judge’s ban
prevent4d her from naming the defendant
if she so wished.“The point I am
making is that your decision effectively
injuncts her for naming him,” he
said.Judge O’Donnell said he had to
weigh up the wisdom of naming the accused
against what was best for the injured
party and perhaps it was a case of
‘the least said the sooner
mended’.He said he was also awarding
the injured party the sum of 2,500 euro
compensation to be used for counselling
purposes adding this was without
prejudice to any other action she might
take.He added she could not breach the
court’s order and would be well
advised to take advice on the matter. He
reiterated his order was in the interests
of her rehabilitation

houses, are called "Church
Houses" and the Born Agains use them
for their "prayer meetings".

Incredibly it is getting verbal
support from Cardinal Connell , the RC
head of their church in Ireland. It is
also getting support from the
Presbyterian Church , the Methodist
Church and the Church of Ireland!
One wonders WHY these
"Protestant" churches are
giving support to , what most people
think is an obscure cult-church, which
for the main hold their "prayer
meetings" in "church
houses", which in itself is a very
curious setup!
This week on the Joe Duffy Radio Show,
many members of the RC community voiced
their anger at Cardinal Connell for
giving support to , what they clearly see
as a protestant cult, even though they
realise the Born Again Movement has
members who call themselves "Born
Again Catholics", which is a
CONTRADICTION in TERMS!
One cannot be a Born Again Catholic
and attend the Roman Catholic church!!!
The top Roman Catholic clergy are
constantly telling us that it is the
first and one and only true Christian
Church, and they repeat that a member of
the Roman Catholic Church CANNOT attend
another Church whilst being a member of
the Roman Church! Great fuss was made
when Mary McAleese, the Irish President,
took communion during a Church of Ireland
service.
So why is the Roman Church and
Cardinal Connell ignoring the fact that
RC leity are attending Born Again prayer
groups and they are calling themselves
"Born Again Catholics"?
It is imperative that the Roman
Catholic hierarchy answer these
questions!!
Has there been a change in Roman
Catholic policy regarding the Born Again
movement and its "teachings";
practically giving that group carte
blanche support?
Cardinal Connel has a lot of answers
to make, and that is besides all the
questions on RC church child abuse!
It seems to me, the Cardinal is giving
support to a rival "church" in
this "Power to Change"
campaign, which effectively could take
members away from the RC congregation!
It seems almost as if HE and the Roman
Church is committing Hara-Kiri!
It almost seems as if HE and the other
mainstream churches are behaving in a
subservient manner to the Born Again
Church, which we all know is dominated by
corporate Americans and Canadian, almost
certainly with CIA backing!
The Born Again Movement was first set
up in Ireland in the 1970s. Almost
overnight they purchased a large number
of expensive properties in many if not
most Irish counties North and South of
the border.
Now no one will tell me or convince me
that these properties were bought with
Irish monies! It is now obvious that USA
corporate evangelic Born Again Christian
groups, (Eg Pat Robertsons CBN etc)
closely connected to the CIA and
rightwing groups, funded and maintained
the groups in Ireland, and it is becoming
obvious that these powerful, deep
pocketed right wing US Born Again
"missionaries" are installed in
many countries across the world, all
funded from US big-business corporate
Born Againers.

Jean McConville - missing -
believed abducted and murdered by
the IRA in 1972.
Poor Jean was a protestant who
married a Roman Catholic and
lived in the Divis flats housing
complex in Belfast.
I sympathise and empathise
with her and her children because
I too have been the victim of
Irish and Loyalist
paramilitaries!
I, like Jean, married a Roman
Catholic and became part of what
was known as a "mixed
marriage" in Ulster in 1972,
the same year Jean was abducted
by the IRA!
