BLACK ROCK DESERT, Nev. - A woman riding
an "art car" at the
counterculture Burning Man festival
died when she accidentally fell under
the vehicle's wheels, authorities
said.
The
death of Katherine Lampman on
Saturday was the most serious in a
series of accidents at the weeklong
huge desert revel, where thousands of
people gather each year in a
celebration of art, performance and
individuality.
At
least five people were taken to area
hospitals after two plane crashes at
the festival's temporary airstrip,
and a truck bringing 30,000 pounds of
ice to the remote site rolled over,
slightly injuring one person,
officials said Saturday.
Lampman,
21, of Belmont, Calif., was killed
about 3 a.m. when she tried to get
off the "art car," which is
similar to a parade float, said Jamie
Thompson, a spokesman for the Bureau
of Land Management (news - web sites).
Four
people were injured Friday night when
their small plane crashed as it
attempted to land at the festival's
airstrip, about 120 miles north of
Reno.
The
victims were flown to Washoe Medical
Center in Reno, where they were later
listed in critical condition.
Also
Friday, another small plane crashed
at the airstrip while attempting to
take off, authorities said. One
person involved in that wreck was
taken to the hospital with back
injuries and two other people
sustained minor injuries, officials
said.
The
names of the plane crash victims were
not available.
Both
crashes, which involved Beechcraft
BE-35 airplanes, were under
investigation by the FAA (news - web sites) and the
National Transportation Safety Board

The
weeklong festival ended Saturday
night with the torching of a
70-foot-high wooden effigy of a man,
the colorful ceremony for which the
festival is named.

Activist
strikes over psychiatrists' faith in drug
therapy

Since
1987, David Oaks of Eugene has been
leading a quiet war against the
psychiatric establishment and its
reliance on pharmaceutical drugs to treat
mental illness, sometimes against the
will of patients.
Now, Oaks
said, he and his organization,
MindFreedom Support Coalition, are
turning to direct action, in the form of
a hunger strike, to turn up the heat on
psychiatrists and drug companies.
"It's
time for our social change movement to
move to bolder actions, from patience to
passion," he said Monday from
Pasadena, Calif., where he and four other
activists have gone without solid food
since Aug. 16.
A sixth
member of the group dropped out of the
strike Sunday because she had lost too
much weight and was starting to suffer
health problems. But about 17 other
people in other parts of the United
States and Europe also began hunger
strikes in solidarity, Oaks said.
At issue
is the notion that mental illness is the
result of a chemical imbalance in the
body that can only be corrected with
drugs, he said.
Oaks
became an activist after his own
experiences with the mental health
system. When he was a student at Harvard,
he became depressed and overwhelmed. He
said he was locked into a cell in a
psychiatric unit and forcibly injected
with psychiatric drugs.
He
describes MindFreedom as a coalition of
100 groups in a dozen countries
"working for a nonviolent revolution
in the mental health system."
Oaks said
his group isn't opposed to the use of
psychiatric drugs, but believes that they
shouldn't be the only option for mentally
ill people.
"We
feel choice is being squeezed out by the
psychiatric drug industry," he said.
"When a family has a member in
crisis ... there needs to be a range of
options: jobs, housing, counseling, peer
support."
Oaks
contends that there is no scientific
evidence to support the assertion that
mental illness is the result of chemical
imbalance.
The hunger
strikers are demanding that the American
Psychiatric Association produce
scientifically valid evidence that mental
illness is biologically based.
A
spokeswoman for the the association,
Laurie Oseran, declined comment, but
pointed to a letter that the group's
medical director wrote to Oaks before the
hunger strike began.
In the
letter, Dr. James Scully told Oaks the
hunger strike was "ill-advised"
and said that the answers to his
questions are "widely available in
the scientific literature and have been
for years." He referred to several
medical texts and journals, but made no
specific citations.
A
14-member panel of medical doctors and
psychologists assembled by MindFreedom to
review the evidence checked Scully's
sources and found the opposite: 10
different citations that indicate no
scientific evidence exists that mental
illness is biologically based.
The hunger
strikers are assembled at the Pasadena
Church of Religious Science - Oaks said
it isn't connected to the Church of
Scientology, a vociferous critic of the
psychiatric establishment. They picked
the church because it was available for a
reasonable cost and in a major media
center.
They have
had only clear broth, fruit juice,
vegetable juice and coffee or tea, Oaks
said. That includes a concoction that
Oaks has been making from kale, carrots,
beets and garlic.
Oaks said
he's starting to feel a little weak and
tired, but doesn't know how long the
strike will continue. The group is
looking for an acknowledgement from the
American Psychiatric Association that it
has reasonable concerns, Oaks said.
"We
feel there's some possible middle ground
and we're feeling out what that
means," he said.
Failing
that, "People are prepared to go
on," he said. "Several people
are pretty strong and prepared to go
quite a long distance."

times during the last hour or so to
George Farquar, on the patients'
telephone in Redwood Ward, in the Royal

George tells me that there was no expert
psychiatric evidence whatsoever
offered at his show trial at Edinburgh
Sheriff's Court on Friday, with the
sole exception of a single letter from a
psychiatrist allegedly received by
the sheriff, which letter was not read
out in court.
George confirms that he was not
represented by his own solicitor, who
turned
up at the court on time to represent
George, but by a different solicitor,
whom the court imposed upon George, whom
George did not want.
Apparently, the sheriff took the unusual
step of making a section 62 order
when no one was asking for this, and when
no psychiatric evidence had been
offered that could be tested by
cross-examination.
The use of section 62 of the Mental
Health Act means that only a specific
politician, the Secretary of State for
Health, can now set George free
(unless, I suppose, a legal appeal
successfully establishes that the judge
wasn't entitled to make the section 62
order in the first place, an avenue
that George's solicitor will now
explore). George says that the
psychiatrist who wrote the letter is also
very unhappy about the use of the
"political" section 62, because
of his inability to set George free
himself.
Even the psychiatrist has now to
depend upon the decision of a government
minister if George is ever going to walk
out of his "prison". (You
could
say that George is now a political
prisoner.)
George seems to be in remarkably good
mental shape, for someone recently
sentenced, in effect, to life
imprisonment, who is on temporary hunger
strike, and who is being regularly
battered by the nursing staff, in order
to force upon him him injections of drugs
that he has not consented to
receive.
George has confirmed that he would like

lawyer prior to the start .We found out
from a call the day before this was the
lawyer that was dropped by George for

was not the case ,and at no time did he
want this lawyer acting for him who
throughout the hearing ,acted not as a
protector to George ,but another part of
the mechanism to enslave him .

transcripts,No jury only a solitary judge
who was neither impartial or fair( a

I can
tell Lord Kilclooney that Dublin has
already had its foot through that door on
September 10, 2001 when my and my
daughter's case came up for a one-hour
debate in the Assembly.

motion concerned the failure of the
Dublin Government to act on the Bland
Case of a British citizen and her Irish
daughter's plight.
At
issue was the conduct of Dublin
solicitors and a member of the Irish
judiciary. The eight unionists supporting
Bland since 1993 have realised that the
judicial "inappropriate
behaviour" caused me, a British
citizen in Dublin, to be unable to
progress to Appeal, and thus my freedom
and human right to apply to the European
Court of Human Rights were prevented
indefinitely.
As a
British woman and mother of an abuse

of this matter, thinking they might lend

I had
not realised the writ of Irish judges
extended to Northern Ireland, but it
seems to have been exercised on this
occasion.
In
April and May of 2001 Judge Smithwick
wrote to, phoned and had a meeting with
Sir John Gorman to enforce his will upon
him.
Sir
John immediately backed out of the debate
as a proposer.
The
debate went ahead, and Sir John made a
magnificent humanitarian speech on Bland
but failed to mention the core of it, the
Dublin Judiciary's " judicial
impropriety".
This
blunted the sword of the Assembly's very
worthy and unanimously supported debate,
and meant that Dublin did not have to
respond to it all or make any changes to
its judicial system.

te an unopposed victory for the Blands in

A devoutly religious couple from
Chicago's South Side have been charged
with murder after allegedly beating their
daughter more than 160 times with a
2cm-thick length of electrical cable.
A court heard
yesterday that Larry and Constance Slack,
both Jehovah's Witnesses, beat
11-year-old Laree - a punishment they
believed was laid down in the Bible -
after she was uncooperative during a
search for her mother's jacket.
The girl was tied to
a metal futon frame, and at one point her
five siblings, aged eight to 17, were
told to hold her down. A towel was
stuffed in her mouth to stifle her
screams.
The Slacks, both 41,
gave themselves up to the police when
Laree was pronounced dead at a local
hospital. They are liable to the death
penalty if convicted.
Demetria Soter,
coordinator of paediatric trauma at Cook
county hospital, said: "Do you know
how hard it is to kill an 11 year-old?
Massive amounts of force are needed to
die like this."

being trafficked into Ireland, report
claims

CHILDREN are being imported against
their will via Britain into Ireland,
a leading global advocacy group
warned yesterday.
Children’s charity UNICEF, which
carried out a major investigation
into child trafficking in to Britain,
said it is believed minors are
passing through the country on the
way to the Dublin.
The charity has identified hundreds
of known cases where children are
trafficked in to Britain, some of
whom are used as prostitutes. Unicef
describes this as the tip of the
iceberg.
“People do go through
Britain and end up in Dublin,” a
UNICEF spokeswoman said.
The charity’s hard-hitting
report, Stop The Traffic, claimed
that thousands may be trafficked to
Britain every year, mainly from West
Africa, Eastern Europe and Asia.
The scale of the problem is hidden by
the nature of the crime and by a lack
of police statistics, the report
claims.
Gardaí last year identified no more
than six suspected cases of children
being trafficked in to the State
against their will. These children
were taken in to the care of the East
Coast Area Health Board.
Nearly 900 children were, however,
referred to the board after arriving
here unaccompanied. The majority,
around 500, are Nigerian and range in
age from four months to 17 years.
Just over 500 were placed with family
members while the others were taken
in to care.
Refugee groups have anecdotal
evidence that some children have
entered the State and have simply
disappeared from the asylum process.
UNICEF in Britain said it has
identified a failure to differentiate
between unaccompanied minors and
those children who are being
trafficked for exploitation.
David Bull, executive director of
Unicef UK, said: “Trafficking is
a serious abuse of child rights and
is seen as less risky than
trafficking drugs.”
Child trafficking was a “global
crisis” and one of the fastest
growing criminal activities, with
about 1.2 million being trafficked
worldwide each year, he said.
Traffickers use rape, beatings,
voodoo and threats of violence
against family members to control and
intimidate the children.
Trafficking should not be confused
with people smuggling, which takes
place with the consent of the
travellers, the report advises. Child
trafficking involves the
transportation and exploitation of
unwilling or unknowing victims, often
for sex work.
Children are also forced to work as
domestic servants, drug mules, in
sweatshops and restaurants, or as
beggars or pickpockets.
The case of ‘Adam’, the
Nigerian boy’s torso found in
the River Thames, raised concerns
that trafficked children are being
used for ritual killing.
The West African cultural practice of
sending children to live with
extended family or friends to be
educated or work is being used to
mask
trafficking, according to the report.

After reading David Icke's books, I
was always sceptical of his accounts of
reptilian (alien - from another planet or
dimension) domination of the elites in
human society all through the centuries
from the beginning of mans tenure on

me and they are not easily explained!
1) The crop circles cannot be easily
explained! As far as I know, there is no
technology which can form such large
designs and complicated on fields of
crops. The designs undoubtedlly would
have to had been constructed from above
the fields because there is no evidence
of human disturbance (foot marks) upon
the stocks of the grain!
The only man-made devices that can
hover over this type of terrain would be
a helicopter or hover jet and they would
have been heard because of the the noise
they create. Secondly, as far as I know,
no aircraft, hovering above the fields,
can produce microwave or laser beams
powerul enough to accomplish such

"prayer meetings".
I recently listened to
a program on new religious groups in
Ireland and this week the RTE radio
program featured the Born Again
Evangelical Christians in Ireland. One of
the prominent Irish BAs( charismatic )
Pentecostalists is Fergus Ryan,. He was
describing the ethos and teachings of his
BA groups but the more he tried to
explain what they believed and the
structure of their socalled groups/
churches/ prayer groups, the more it
became obvious that theres something very
odd about these organisations.
The BAs in Ireland are
all interconnected with each other, yet
they are independent from each other at
the same time! How can this be?
Ryan says that the
Irish BAs are affiliated the the broader
BA movement spread throughout Europe but
they dont have the usual christian church
structure and no obvious established
formal synod as is normal with main
stream churches! They have a very curious
and suspicious structure which Ryan
described as cell groups, which are
normally comprised of about 10 to 12(13 -
covens try to make their numbers add up
to 13) people. I think this type of
association is very suspicious, and given
my research into christians and the
occult, it is an ideal way to have
secretive meets( usually in private
houses owned by the wealthy BA movement)
where all sorts of vile crimes (child
abuse, witchery, regular occult rituals
and even sacrifices) can take place!
