women and girls have been raped, stabbed,
strangled and killed, or disappeared in
Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. The majority were
Maquila workers (factory workers), as
young as 13 years old.
Casa Amiga was established as a women's
organization in Juarez that seeks to help
female survivors of violence and abuse.

"Bombers" highlighted the
case of the IRA "proxy bombing
in Northern Ireland using a man
chained into a car seat and who was
forced to deliver a bomb to a British
Army check-point. The proxy driver
was Paddy Gellespie - his body was
never found - 5 soldiers were killed!

While
his family was held hostage in their
Londonderry home, Patrick Gillespie, RC,
42, married, 3 children was forced to
drive a car loaded with a bomb into the
Buncrana Road checkpoint in Coshquin. The
explosion killed Patsy as well as 5 young
soldiers from the Kings Regiment. Stephen
Burrows 30, from Blackpool. He left
behind a wife and a 3 year old son.
Stephen Beachem, 20, from Warrington,
Cheshire Vincent Scott, 21, from Walton,
Liverpool David Sweeney, 19, from Widnes,
Cheshire Paul Worrall, 23, from Runcorn,
Cheshire As the bomb exploded, gunmen
opened fire from the safe haven across
the border. Four years earlier Patsy had
narrowly escaped death when he was forced
to drive another human bomb to a local
Army base. RC Bishop of Derry, Dr Edward
Daly accused the IRA of "crossing a
new threshold of evil" 17 civilians
were injured in the attack.

year old James McEvoy escaped injured
after being forced to drive a bomb into a
checkpoint at Killeen, outside Newry.
Cyril Smith, 21, P, from the Royal Irish
Rangers, died in the explosion, 13 of his
colleagues were injured. He was from
Carrickfergus. At the inquest into the
atrocity James McEvoy said he was
awakened in the middle of the night to
see two figures standing over him wearing
balaclavas. They blindfolded him before
taking him some distance. He was ordered
to drive a car towards the checkpoint and
if he did not comply two of his sons
would be murdered. He was to tell the
soldiers there was a bomb and they had 40
minutes to get clear. In reality though,
within seconds of Mr. McEvoy abandoning
the car, the bomb was detonated. James
McEvoy died 7 months later. A relative
said he "never got over what
happened that night in October".

Another
Proxy attempt on the same day at
Lisanelly Army base, Omagh, failed when
the main bomb didn't explode. A man had
been strapped to the car seat and forced
to drive the bomb in, while his wife and
7 year old child were held hostage.

At
around 9:30pm, a number of armed and
masked men took over a house in
Newtownbutler. A man was taken out while
his elderly parents were tied up in a
toilet. He was driven to the IRA's safe
haven of the Irish Republic were they
held him in a derelict house. From there
he was taken away in a Toyota pickup
truck accompanied by two armed men. He
was made to drive the truck to
Annaghmartin, Fermanagh checkpoint and
told that the truck carried a bomb on a 5
minute timer. At the checkpoint he
shouted a warning and there was a small
explosion. The bomb itself failed to go
off. On examination, the bomb contained
3,500lb of homemade explosives, the
biggest IRA bomb to date. Had it exploded
it would have caused enormous havoc,
destruction and certain death.

IRA
force a man to drive a 500lb human bomb
into a UDR base in Magherafelt, Co.
Londonderry by holding his wife hostage
in another car. The driver shouted a
warning and escaped before the bomb
exploded. Part of the base and 50
surrounding houses were badly damaged. 3
members of the man's company had already
been murdered by nationalists because the
firm survived by buliding for the
security forces.

the day before John Hume and Gerry Adams
issued their first joint statement, the
IRA exploded a one ton bomb in
Bishopsgate, London. The bomb caused
damage estimated at upwards of a billion
pounds. On the same day two taxi drivers
were used as human bombs in nationalist
attempts to blow up London, it failed
when the drivers managed to abandon their
taxi's and shout warnings.

to donate $1.25 million to her order. It

been stolen from americans by Keating in
the Savings and Loan scandal. A 1994
British television documentary, ``Hell's
Angel: Mother Teresa of Calcutta,' showed
that she had alos received funds from
Haitian dictator Jean-Claude Duvalier

M Swomley is correct, is it possible that
this socalled Mother Teresa is a procurer
of children for paedophiles and Satanists
in the Western world?
Socalled Mother Teresa - in league
with corrupt rtwing US fundamentalists -

is brought to court in the savings and
loan scandal.
She endorses the

money from Charles Keating, “now

Keating, a “Catholic
fundamentalist”, gave Mother Teresa
one and a quarter million dollars and
“the use of his private jet.”
During the course of Keating’s
trial, Mother Teresa wrote Judge Ito
asking clemency and asked Ito “to do
what Jesus would do.”
One
of the prosecutors in the trial wrote her
telling her “of 17,000 individuals
from whom Mr. Keating stole
$252,000,000.” He added, “You
urge Judge Ito to look into his heart--as
he sentences Charles Keating--and do what
Jesus would do. I submit the same
challenge to you. Ask yourself what Jesus
would do if he were given the fruits of a
crime; what Jesus would do if he were in
possession of money that had been stolen;
what Jesus would do if he were being
exploited by a thief to ease his
conscience.” The prosecutor asked
her to return the money, and offered to
put her “in direct contact with the
rightful owners of the property now in
your possession.” This supposed
paragon of virtue never replied to his
letter."

- How did he get his hands on a
razor? This is very convenient for
several reasons!
The evidence against Chanal is
paper-thin,
a couple of hairs were found in
his van, which were said to have
belonged to the murder victims.
His track record - assault on a
Hungarian hiker, is supposed to
justify the belief that Chanal
murdered 8 men in the Marne region
between 1980 - 1987.
Judging by my own
experience of missing persons murders
and the establishment( the rich and
powerful, police etc) - I smell a rat
in this case!
The pattern is similar to other
cases, where a socalled suspect who
has been apprehended for murders,
paedophilia or a suspect in missing
persons cases, ends up CONVENIENTLY
taking his own life!

My famous namesake dies! Jim Cairns
lead the huge anti Vietnam War rallies in
Australia in the 1970s, but the CIA saw
him as nothing less than a commie
sympathiser!

James (Jim) Ford Cairns, PhD (b. 1914)
 Dr Cairns was a senior lecturer
in economic history at the University of
Melbourne before standing for Parliament.
He was a Member of the House of
Representatives from 1955 to 1977 and
served as Deputy Prime Minister and
Federal Treasurer from 1974 to 1975.
Dr Cairns has published a number of
works, including the following titles: Living
with Asia (1965), Tariffs on
Planning (1971), Growth to Freedom
(1979), The Untried Road (1990)
and Towards a New Society (1994).
He lists his favourite recreation as
sleeping.
The
CIA in Australia, Part 1
The CIA and their part in
the overthrow of the Gough Whitlam Labour
Government in 1975.
Ralph McGehee: Well, my views are as
though what's the problem? I mean, we had
a whole series of Agency spokesmen said,
`oh, yes, there was an Agency role in the
overthrow of the Whitlam government'. I
just don't know why Australians can't
accept that. I did just a little bit of
research before I came out and you had
Ray Cline, a former Deputy Director of
the CIA, saying `when Whitlam came to
power there was a period of turbulence
and the CIA will go so far as to provide
information to people who will bring it
to the surface in Australia, say a
Whitlam error which they were willing to
pump into the system so it may be to his
damage and we may provide a particular
piece of information to the Australian
intelligence services so that they make
use of it'. And then the CIA National
Intelligence Daily said, `some of the
most incriminating evidence in that
period against the ministers in the
Whitlam government may have been
fabricated.' This is about as strong as
you get them to say so. It is quite
obvious that information was being leaked
about ministers Rex O'Connor and Jim
Cairns and some of it was being forged
which is a standard CIA process
. And no doubt they got even more
worried when a person like as Jim Cairns
was made Treasurer -- Jim Cairns was a
very well known anti-Vietnam war
activist. So there were probably a whole
heap of things which the CIA could blow
up to demonstrate that this was a raving
red alert that had been projected into
power in Australia and had to be get rid
of at all costs.

THE DEATH SQUADS:
OH WHAT A TANGLED WEB WE'RE WEAVING

On the first day of September,
1991, in room 419 of the Dirksen
Senate Office Building, there was a
hearing that had been structured in
such a way as to elicit as little
public attention as possible. Experts
were on hand to speak in tones
pitched to guarantee boredom.
Committee members, typically
half-prepared and distracted, seemed
to ensure an atmosphere of monotony
and torpor. The Subcommittee on
"Terrorism, Narcotics and
International Operations" of the
Senate Foreign Relations Committee
was taking evidence on the murky and
obscure workings of the Bank of
Credit and Commerce International
(BCCI), an institution which in the
months ahead was to become known as
the "Bank of Crooks and
Spies." In various postures of
piety and relaxation were Sens. Jesse
Helms (R-NC), James Jeffords (R-VT),
Claiborne Pell (D-RI), Paul Simon
(D-IL), Alan Cranston (D-CA), and
John Kerry (D-MA), the subcommittee
chairman.
The two witnesses were Jack Blum,
a former investigator for the
subcommittee, and William von Rabb,
U.S. Customs commissioner under
Presidents Reagan and - until just
that previous month - Bush - and dull
their revelations were not. As Blum
and von Rabb got deeper and deeper
into their testimony, a number of
reporters who had shown up - more out
of habit and having nothing better to
do - began to catch one another's
eye; in the seats reserved for the
public, quiet gave way to murmurs and
even a few whistles of astonishment.
Did the Federal Reserve possess a
list of names of prominent
Washingtonians who had taken
kickbacks from BCCI? Yes, it did. Had
BCCI helped certain outlaw states
acquire American nuclear technology?
Yes, it had. Had payments been made
through BCCI to drug runners, gun
smugglers, death-squad leaders? You
bet. Had the Treasury Department
known about BCCI? Sure. What about
the Justice Department? They knew
what was up, and seemed most
concerned that no others would.[1]
The testimony which began to
slowly emerge in the weeks and months
which followed should have concerned
any evangelical with the patience to
follow the hearings; it revealed a
sinister and noxious web of
relationships which connected BCCI,
to the CIA, the State Department, the
Justice Department, the Middle East,
drug-smuggling, money-laundering, the
Contras, the Vatican, a number of
rich North American and Latin
American businessmen, Clark Clifford,
Manuel Noriega, the Calero brothers,
the Medellin Drug Cartel,
D'Aubuisson, Oliver North, Elliot
Abrams, the Death Squads, killings,
torture, "disappearances,"
etc. - essentially all those elements
which in any way had been connected
to the defeat of communism in Central
and South America. And there, in the
midst of it all, were the
evangelicals.
Many evangelicals, of course, will
say that their involvement with such
things (and people) had been worth it
- the defeat of communism in Central
and South America! But was it really?
Can any good ever come out of such
enterprises? such entanglements? -
the torture! the
"disappearances!" the
drug-smuggling! the money laundering!
etc. There is a price to be paid when
one involves himself in such things -
the defilement of one's soul; the
contamination of one's psyche; the
corruption of one's character. That's
why the Scriptures warn that it's
better for Christians - especially
when acting together as a
"community of faith" - to
suffer evil and the wrong-doing of
others than to take matters into
one's own hands and strike back -
even when they are apparently
justified in doing so, as when, for
example, the goal is the defeat of
communist subversion:
"But I say unto you, That
ye resist not evil: but whosoever
shall smite thee on thy right
cheek, turn to him the other also
... Ye have heard that it hath
been said, Thou shalt love thy
neighbor, and hate thine enemy.
But I say unto you, Love your
enemies, bless them that curse
you, do good to them that hate
you, and pray for them which
despitefully use you, and
persecute you." (Please see
Matt. 5:39-48)
But apparently that's not what a
large number of evangelicals thought!
- evidently Larry Lea didn't think
so! nor did Cubie Ward! (more about
this in upcoming journals) nor,
evidently, did the Rev. Phil
Derstein, head of Gospel Crusade,
Inc. based out of Brandenton,
Florida. Derstine is closely
associated with Oral Roberts and
various other "Seed Faith"
luminaries. Derstine is typical of
those evangelicals who, for one
reason or another, got mixed up in
the "goings-on" in Central
and South America and who, as a
result, became entangled in the CIA's
dirty little war against communism in
that area of the world in the 1970s
and '80s.[2]
Derstein told reporters at the
1987 National Religious Broadcasters
Convention in Washington DC that he
had become involved in the
"happenings" in Central
America at the behest of the National
Security Council (NSC), specifically
as a result of Oliver North's
entreaties. Derstine's assertions as
to his connection to the NSC are
supported by a November 1985 report
in a Florida newspaper, the Sarasota
Harald-Tribune, that U.S. Rep. Andy
Ireland (R-FL) had personally
accompanied Derstine to a National
Security Council briefing together
with Oliver North prior to his
September 1985 trip to the
Honduras-Nicaragua border region.[3]
North had been passing himself off
as a "Charismatic Catholic"
(and, ipso facto, a card-carrying
member of the evangelical community),
and had, as a result, earned the
endorsement of such evangelical
notables as Pat Robertson. Robertson
had described North as a
"born-again" Christian and
as a personal associate - it seems
that all it takes today to become an
evangelical is to speak in tongues,
raise one's hands at prayer meetings,
and punctuate one's speech with
"Hallelujahs" and
"Amens."[4] (Certain New
Age cults do that; does that, one
wonders, make them Christian as
well?)
Interestingly, there is no
evidence that prior to the 1980s
North had ever taken any interest -
personally or otherwise - in
evangelicalism, which has led certain
skeptics (and not just liberal ones)
to conclude that his (i.e., North's)
interest in evangelicalism had been
carefully and knowingly calibrated by
the NSC and the CIA more as a cynical
device to lure the evangelical
community into the war against
communism in Central America than
anything else. Indeed, according to
North's testimony during the Iran /
Contra hearings, Bill Casey, the
Catholic head of the CIA, had taken
the lead in this direction. North
testified that Casey was a
"dedicated Christian" who
had taken him under his wing as a
"father would a son."]
Derstine said that in meetings he
attended with North, North would
often punctuate his speech with
"Amens" and
"Hallelujahs" - indicating
that the NSC and the CIA had molded
and shaped their pupil well, and had
expertly coached him in the
vernacular of charismatic
evangelicalism. Indeed, during this
time it was not uncommon - according
to sources who had occasion to listen
in at the meetings of CIA and State
Department operatives with Death
Squad leaders and other assorted
surrogates and agents at the Contra
jungle camps in Central America - to
hear great amounts of
"Hallelujahs" and
"Amens" emanating from
those tight-knit circles. One person
described these
"gatherings" as resembling
prayer meetings more than what they
really were: the machinations of
various killers hell-bent on the
overthrow of the Sandinistas at
whatever cost to the civilian
population in blood and misery.
According to Derstine, North also
introduced him to Contra leader
Adolfo Calero and Enrique Bermudez.
Both Bermudez and Calero have been
linked through their Contra
organizations not only to Death Squad
activity, but also to drug-smuggling
operations involving the Medellin
Drug Cartel.[5] Derstine said that
North had arranged similar
introductions for other U.S. based
evangelical organizations, among
which were Pat Robertson's Christian
Broadcasting Network and Woody
Jenkins' group, Friends of the
Americas.
Derstine claims to have traveled
to Honduras and northern Nicaragua
about a dozen times for meetings with
Calero and Bermudez to "provide
the Contras with ideological
training." Derstine said,
"I've been preaching among the
Contras. They're so open to the
Gospel. We're trying to get a
chaplains' program going there. We've
brought Bibles into the Contras.
We've brought teaching tapes to the
men, and they're open for us to bring
in preachers any time we're able
to." [One cannot help but
wonder, however, what such a Gospel,
one that has been so thoroughly
politicized, can produce? - the kind
which produces converts who can
torture and kill while at the same
time singing hymns, praising God and
speaking in tongues? (Please see
summer journal for more information
on this matter)]. Derstine said that
following his return from such
missions, he would be met at the
airport by State Department and CIA
officials and debriefed - and one
cannot really suppose that the CIA
and the State Department were really
all that interested in the number of
converts to Christ Derstine's efforts
had produced. Their interest
obviously lay elsewhere and had
little to do with the Kingdom of God.
Oh, what a muddled and snarled
intrigue we as evangelicals got
ourselves mixed up in when we
involved ourselves and our churches
with the CIA and the NSC in Central
and South America. This is what
happens when Christians involve
themselves - even for the best of
reasons - in politics. Someday we
will have to explain it all - and on
"that day," we won't be
able to hide behind our contrived
excuses and painstakingly complex
obfuscations. And it's doubtful that
the One to Whom we must ultimately
answer will accept our involvement
with torture, drug-smuggling,
"disappearances," Death
Squad leaders, etc. - all our
elaborate justifications
notwithstanding. We would all be
well-advised to remember that -

Trojans make
firewalls futile By James Middleton
[08-11-2001] Security experts warn of
leaky protection
Security watchers have warned that
personal firewalls may be an
"exercise in futility" given
the latest developments in Trojan
techniques.
Just days after the security community
advised that Trojans are increasingly
using outbound connections to pick up
commands and avoid port blocking and
intrusion detection, experts have said
that firewalls may be highly susceptible
to such tricks.
Some personal firewalls may be
"dangerously leaking your personal
and private data onto the internet,"
warned Steve Gibson of the Gibson
Research Corporation.
Following a report titled The
Futility of Common Firewall Policies
from the Department of Health Management
and Informatics and the University of
Missouri, experts have spent years
researching the many ways to circumvent
the outbound detection processes of
personal firewalls.
Although personal firewall products
such as Zone Alarm, Black Ice Defender,
Norton Personal Firewall and Tiny
Personal Firewall diversified from the
concept of a firewall only blocking
inbound network traffic by monitoring and
blocking outbound traffic too,
proof-of-concept tools show the outbound
protection of such apps to be 'illusory'
at best.
As vnunet.com pointed out
recently, Trojan
authors are increasingly commandeering or
hijacking web browsers and forcing them
to send out data, disguised as HTTP
traffic, on behalf of the attacker.
Although by nature a Trojan must be
able to get onto the system in the first
place to cause damage, if this does
happen, "then it's game over,"
said Robin Keir, author of
proof-of-concept tool, FireHole.
"The rogue program has your
computer completely under its
control," he added.
Likewise, Bob Sundling, who created a
similar tool, TooLeaky, said that his
program "very clearly penetrates
every firewall on the market, including
Zone Alarm. It sends data out to a server
and then retrieves data in response,
completely bypassing your firewall,"
he said.
He added: "If a firewall is going
to allow some program to transmit and
receive data over the internet, and that
program allows other programs to control
its actions, then there's no point in
blocking anything at all."
This reiterates the warning that
admins need to lock down applications to
quash such vulnerabilities, by specifying
which programs on each machine are
allowed access to the network, and
checking for maliciously modified apps.
"Keep your antivirus program up
to date, keep your email client locked
down with correct security zone settings,
never open attachments that can contain
executable content, and maybe restrict
the ports that your web browser and other
commonly used applications can talk
on," added Keir.
